Manufacturing Process
One of the advantages of SEC CARBON is the production system that assures stable supply of high quality products. Kyoto Plant is our base of integrated production, while Okayama Plant is specialized for machining and specific impregnation of Carbon & Graphite specialties.
Raw Materials
“Procure the most suitable raw materials for each product usage by taking advantage of the features of coke.
Store each raw material separately according to grades and supply source.”
Pulverizing and Screening
Pulverize and screen the coke.
Classify the screened coke according to grain size and store it in individual silos.
Kneading
Weigh and mix coke according to the mixing standard based on quality design.
Knead the mixed coke and binder pitch in the kneader.
Forming
Form the kneaded material by an extrusion press.
Changing the press nozzle enables the materials to be formed into various shapes and sizes.
Baking & Pitch Impregnation
Bake the material in order to improve thermal stability, mechanical strength and to give electrical conductivity.
Pitch impregnation and re-baking can be applied to make the baked material denser and improve its strength.
Graphitizing
Treat the baked material at extremely high temperatures to change its structure from amorphous carbon to graphite and obtain excellent material properties.

Machining
Graphitized materials are machined into specified shapes and sizes according to customer requirements.

Pulverizing and Classification
Pulverize and classify the product to micron grain sizes of 1 to 100 by using a pulverizer and classifier.

Machine the graphitized material by NC lathes or a large machining center according to the specifications of customers.
